100 days

yesterday (may 30th) marked kellen’s 100th day.  she is a true delight (just like her brother) to have in our family.  her latest accomplishments include: smiling, laughing, batting at objects, cooing, and being more content in the car seat when in the car!  we are still working on sleeping through the night – which also means that this mama has not had an uninterrupted night of sleep for 100 nights!  but i’m sure she will get there soon . . . 

it just so happened that my sister-in-law was able to sign us into disneyland yesterday along with jay & grandpa. (daddy couldn’t come because he was in palo alto until this afternoon.) we stayed until the fireworks were over, and had a great time.  grandpa was able to stay with the stroller while jay and i rode a few rides.  then when it was time for kellen to eat, grandpa and jay went and did the train ride, or monorail (jay’s favorite thing right now) or get a scoop of ice cream.  i have to say a big thank you to eileen for telling me about the disneyland “baby center.” what a great retreat for new moms to go and nurse in peace and comfort!  (it could use a little makeover . . . but i’m not going to complain!) for such a big organization as disney, it’s nice to know there is a little retreat for moms with babies to go and feed and change their baby with some privacy and comfort.  

so all in all, we had a great day and evening at the “happiest place on earth!”  thanks lisa for helping make our day fun even when daddy was gone!  oh, i almost forgot, i ran into an old teaching partner from back in my gardenhill days!  it was so fun to see lorelei and catch up for a few minutes.  she was truly a mentor to me my first year teaching, and a wonderful next door neighbor! how funny that a big place like disneyland and you run into someone you know!

Indy Fever

Last night Mike & I went with some friends to Hollywood’s Arclight Dome theatre to see the new Indiana Jones movie.  The movie was great, and it was fun being in Hollywood for such an anticipated movie event.  The audience was enthusiastic and it made for a fun night.  After the movie we all headed back over to Hall & Gina’s house for a post movie visit.  It was our first time leaving both kids and everyone did great, including me!  (Thank goodness for breast pumps & Gina’s hospitality!!!)  Thanks also to both sets of grandparents who took the kids for us . . . we so appreciate you!

 

what the hail!

it never hails in sunny southern california . . . except today at the exact time i needed to go pick jay up from kindergarten!  made for a wet & cold 45 minutes. we both got soaked, and our street flooded up to the sidewalks.  so now we are drying out and enjoying the sun that is peeking out!

it’s hard to see in this first photo, but we are soaked! you can see in the other photos that the water is covering the sidewalks!  unreal!

My Favorite 90’s TV Moment – 3rd Rock in 3D!

French Stewart singing “Life Has Been Good to Me” from Randy Newman’s modern opera “Faust”. This exquisitely choreographed routine originally appeared in a special “3rd Rock from the Sun – in 3D!” episode. The premise is that our alien family inhabiting human bodies all begin to have dreams. Having never experienced them before, this proves to be traumatic, or in Harry’s case – fun!

3 months old

I can’t believe it was been exactly 3 months since Kellen was born.  In the beginning when a new baby is born, it seems like time stands still.  Between the constant feeding schedule, and healing from the delivery, a week just seems like such a long time.  Now here we are 3 months down the road.  I can’t express just how blessed I feel to have both her and Jay.  Children really do bring so much joy and laughter into life. She has just recently started laughing, which is just too much fun. We took some video of her today laughing.  I’ll try to get it posted in the next few days.

Mother’s Day

I had a great mother’s day on Sunday.  Not only did I spend the day with my little ones, I was able to spend time with my mom for lunch and then my mother-in-law for dessert in the evening.  Here are some of the pictures from the day.

Screwed!

Yesterday afternoon was spent trying to get a tire repaired that had 6 screws in it!  It turns out that the front tire also had 2 screws.  So they patched the front tire, and put the spare tire on the back to replace the 6 screw tire. The tire people did this because they had to wait until the order came in the morning for a tire that would be comparable to the ones we already had.  

Then this morning the front tire was flat because apparently there was a third screw they missed patching yesterday!  ARG!  Now our car has TWO new tires.  Thankfully Mike was home today to handle all the tire business that I got in motion yesterday!
