Elfa Love

September 5, 2008

The past three days have been spent weeding out Jay’s toys. We really want to get all Jay’s stuff out of the living room and into his room. So I’ve been going to Target and stocking up on baskets, then down to the Container Store to pick up shelving. Today I installed the shelving on the half of the closet we are using for storing his stuff. I think it looks great and I can’t wait to someday in the future convert the whole closet into a customized Elfa system! (I didn’t take a before picture, but basically there was just stuff on the floor of that half of the closet.) Doesn’t it look great! I can be pretty handy with a Phillips head, a drill, and a label maker!

Whistlin’ Fool

As you can tell, Jay has learned how to whistle. He almost can’t stop himself around the house . . . he just “gots to whistle.” Well my sweet boy learned that on the first day of first grade “whistling is not allowed.” Oh my sweet whistler must now tether his new skill and remember to only whistle when not in class! The challenges we each must face.

(by the way this is julie posting this one!)

1st Day, 1st Grade

September 2, 2008

It only happens once in your life! Today was Jay’s. It was good to see him off, but I couldn’t help but feel a little apprehensive leaving him there ALL day! He did great and really seemed to enjoy his teacher and class. I just hope 1st grade will be as “magical” as his kindergarten experience was.

Here he is by the front door on the way to school. (Being a teacher myself, he kept up the tradition we started last year by bringing a flower to his new teacher! Got to start off on a good note with those teachers!)Of course one of the things he was most looking forward to was having his own desk!
