Good Morning Kellen!

October 21, 2008

This morning I decided to try and capture Kellen waking up. When I went in her room, the photo shows how I found her. Then I opened her blinds a little and you can see how my sweet one wakes up! (Oh by the way, I’d do this for Jay too if he didn’t get up so dang early! I’ll have to wait until he sleeps past 7am one of these days!) Kellen is officially 8 months old as of yesterday . . . it is going way too quickly. (P.S. this is Julie posting under Mike’s name . . . it’s the whole uploading and cross-posting of the video thing that makes it easier for me to do it with Mike’s info.)

Wedding in Vancouver, WA

October 17, 2008

Last weekend, Kellen and I made our way to Portland, Oregon from Long Beach. We didn’t know it until we were on the plane, but we were on the inaugural flight of jetBlue from Long Beach to Portland! That was pretty fun, especially since the flight was full of jetBlue mucky-mucks who were passing out freebies and drawing seat numbers for a future free flight! Unfortunately our number didn’t get pulled.  Overall, the flight with Kellen went well (except for the decent, but really what can you expect?).

My folks had driven up to my Aunt & Uncle’s house in Vancouver, WA (a suburb of Portland just accross the Columbia River) a few days before. It was awesome to be able to send ahead a bunch of Kellen stuff with them like the pack-n-play, car seat, her clothes, food, etc. It really made the fact that I was traveling alone with a 7 month old possible.

It was so fun staying with my extended family and being a part of all the festivities prior to the wedding on October 11th. I’m so happy for Russ & Shree and am excited for their new life together! Here are some fun pictures from the weekend.

Happy 38th birthday! We love you!

Leavin’ on a jetBlue Plane

October 8, 2008

Tomorrow Kellen and I will fly up to Portland, Oregon to attend the wedding of my cousin, Russ. Mike and Jay are staying home for this trip, but I’m sure they will have some quality time together. I’m excited to take a little “vaca” but am also a little anxious about traveling on a plane with a baby by myself! So if you think of me tomorrow, say a little prayer for us . . . I’ll post pictures when we get back on Sunday.

Now on to other random Kellen news (don’t worry, I’ll give Jay equal time in another post.) This is what Kellen looked like in her “baby” carrier car seat. Let me tell you, that thing was heavy lugging her around. This was the same infant seat Jay used and it held up enough to use for Kellen too. But now that my baby is 7 months old and 15 something pounds, we have graduated to a “proper” leave-in-the-car-take-the-baby-in-and-out carseat!

Doesn’t she look cute in her new roomie carseat???

Welcome Fall

October 5, 2008

It has been about a month since I last posted. Bad, blogger, bad, I know! Here are a few highlights of what’s been happening.

My sister just came for a quick weekend visit all by herself! It was so fun to see her and go scrapbooking together. We even induldged in a little chocolate pie.

Other happenings include Kellen’s dedication at church. Everything went well and we were so happy to have our families there to witness her dedication. Jay even joined us on stage, which ended up being a mixed bag. I knew we were in for it when Jay announced in the car ride to church that he would like to do a “half cart wheel on stage!” Needless to say, I was so thrown by that comment that it was hard not to laugh. He did pretty much behave himself on stage, except for maybe the push-ups he decided would be appropriate during the pastor’s prayer!

This past week we went to Tanaka Farms pumpkin patch down in Irvine with Holli & her girls. This has become somewhat of an annual field trip and proved to be a fun afternoon (except for the extreme heat! geesh!)

More updates to come later . . . plus, Kellen and I are getting ready to fly to Portland, Oregon this Thursday for my cousin’s wedding. Stay tuned! I won’t stay away so long  . . . promise!
